New handsets 'cost too much'
Those in business development jobs in the mobile phone retail sales sector are claiming that the difference in price between old and new handsets is too wide.
Sales jobs employees are finding it difficult to sell new handsets to customers because they are much more expensive than the heavily discounted yet high-specification older handsets.
A senior retail source told Mobile Today that the huge gap is making it difficult for sales jobs employees to "give a product that bang at launch".
The source added: "The pricing is way too high for new phones, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but way too low for older products."
Meanwhile, to the further dismay of business development managers everywhere, Asda has announced the launch of the UK's lowest priced pay-as-you-go handset costing £5.
Low cost handsets made available at low cost by Asda, such as the Sagem My212x and Nokia 1112, could make competition tough for those in sales jobs selling newer models.
