US medical sector example for UK recruiters

The number of primary care trust doctors being found by a recruiter has increased in the US, an industry report suggests.

Ryan Anholt, executive vice president of Delta Physical Placement, claims the study shows e-marketing is becoming a more useful tool for the recruiter.

He says direct mail works best if they are trying to find somebody to fill a specific vacancy, but the internet is better for more general opportunities.

When a recruiter wants to secure the best candidate with either method, he warns, they must be willing to make the best deal and produce a contract quicker than their competitors.

In the American medical sector, nearly three-quarters of candidates were found through direct mail approaches.

One in five placements is being sourced through the internet and seven per cent through cold calling.

In related news, Pulse has recorded a decrease in the number of GP vacancies to less than half of last year's number.
