Jobseekers 'must paint a full picture of competence'

By Paul Goatman

Candidates looking for pharmaceutical sales jobs should paint a perfect picture of their skill level when looking for employment in the current economic climate, it has been claimed.

According to Avril Horn, senior consultant at CSL Recruitment, once jobseekers see a position they should look around on other job sites to see where else the role is advertised.

She went on to say a valid recruitment agent should be able to provide candidates with a company job description immediately so it can be reviewed against a current CV.

Ms Horn added: "Spend time analysing your career citing achievements, skill level and writing a good profile in accord with the many guidance documents around."

She went on to say that scientists and physicians working for pharmaceutical firms looking to recruit staff often betray a lack of skill in distinguishing between job description and actual job content, as they often do not have the time or inclination to self-promote.

Last week Vicki Brackett, founder of job website Make it Happen, commented that recruitment firms need to support candidates looking for sales jobs throughout their employment search.
