Wilkinsons boosts sales jobs in North Yorkshire market town
Wilkinsons is creating 60 sales jobs in Northallerton as it takes over an old Woolworths store.
Retail outlet Wilkinson will take over a large vacant building on the High Street, which was home to Woolworths before it folded.
Dave Jones, local marketing manager for Wilkinson, said that the shop will be fully refurbished before opening in early December, just in time for the Christmas period.
He added: "We are very keen to get this store opened and, although we have not finalised the details with local job centres, we hope to create about 60 jobs. We have opened a number of new stores in the north-east recently and it is an area that has been good for us."
Councillor Tony Hall, mayor of Northallerton, said the sales jobs being created is excellent news for the town.
Northallerton's Woolworths closed down on December 27th last year, with 36 sales jobs being cut in the process.
Wilkinson has also announced that it is planning to open new stores in Barnstaple, Ilford, Bognor Regis and Wythenshawe over the next six to eight months.
